SprayLock Concrete Protection (SCP) technology activates a pozzolanic reaction within both new and existing concrete that produces a permanent change to the microstructure of the concrete. This process penetrates deep into the concrete matrix, filling capillary pores with additional Calcium Silicate Hydrate (C–S–H), the compound most responsible for concrete’s strength.
The benefits of this permanent reaction are:
• Superior curing performance: When used at time of placement, the product provides equal or better performance than 28-day moist curing when strength development and drying shrinkage are the measurements by which curing effectiveness is evaluated. The products typically provide a 40% to 60% reduction in drying shrinkage compared to control specimens.
• Reduced permeability: By filling capillary pores and reducing pore connectivity, the concrete becomes significantly less permeable, limiting the ingress of water, chlorides, and other harmful ions.
• Enhanced durability: The densification of the concrete matrix improves resistance to chemical and acid attack while reducing the likelihood of damaging reactions such as Alkali–Silica Reaction.
